This is a French chicken dish cooked with vegetables, herbs and burgundy wine that is absolutely marvelous. I make it for special occasions and am always complimented on it. Serve with hot cooked noodles, crusty French bread and a green salad, if desired.

- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3/4 teaspoon dried marjoram, crushed
- 1 cup thinly sliced carrots
- 1/8 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup Burgundy wine
- 1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 3/4 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
- 16 pearl onions, peeled
- 1/2 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules
- 2 cups small whole fresh mushrooms
- 1 1/2 cups cold water
- 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 bay leaf
- 1 tablespoon bacon bits
